Flat Sands of Daytona Beach
Well it’s May 12th 2010 and once again I have awakened in a place that is comfortable, but well beneath my life expectations. For those that don’t know, although these Florida classifieds are designed for people in Florida, but they are actually run from Canada. That’s right Canada. The land of the frozen tundra, dark winter days and long winter nights. It’s now May and the temperature is still in the low 50’s during the day. How I long for the days of being in Daytona Beach.
I remember waking up to the soft background of the ocean surf and looking out the window to see the morning sunrise reflecting off the smooth surface of the ocean as waves roll in and break on the sand bar just off shore. I’d grab my surfboard an head out there for a bit of morning surfing on glass like conditions. A couple hours later, the temperature would be rising and so would my hunger level, so I’d head back in for some breakfast before heading off for a day of surf, sand and sun at Ponce Inlet.
Ponce Inlet is the best surf spot I have found on the North East Coast of Florida. The waves are larger, the ocean looks more like the caribbean sea and the sand is softer. If you’ve never surfed Ponce Inlet I highly recommend it if your in the area.
Some mornings after waking up and realizing than I am still in Canada, I tune my internet radio to a Florida Station, Apply some sun screen to the back of my hand, give it a sniff and imagine that I’m there… working on my Florida Classifieds Site while actually sitting in my RV in Florida. Making my living online and surfing whenever the waves are just right…..
Ya gotta have a dream.
